먼저, 2025.8.6~7간 ‘아프리카를 잇다(Connect Africa)’라는 주제로 2025 Nairobi 세계 한국 포럼(World Korea Forum) 개최를 진심으로 축하드리며, 나이로비 세계 한국 포럼 행사를 케냐에서 개최해 주신 이창주 국제코리아재단 상임의장님과 동 포럼 행사에 한국, 케냐 및 전 세계에서 참석해 주신 모든 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다.
Firstly, I would like to sincerely congratulate you on the 2025 Nairobi World Korea Forum under the theme of ‘Connect Africa’ scheduled to be held from August 6 to 7, 2025. I wish to also extend my sincere gratitude to Mr. Tshangchu RHEE, Head of Korea Global Foundation for hosting the World Korea Forum in Kenya, as well as all participants attending the forum from Korea, Kenya, and around the world.
한국은 2차 세계 대전과 한국 전쟁 이후, 국제사회와의 협력, 교육 및 R&D에 대한 투자 확대, 국민들의 강한 정신력, 한국 정부의 뛰어난 리더십 등으로 민주주의와 경제성장에 성공하였습니다.
Since the World War II and the Korean War, Korea has succeeded in achieving democracy and economic growth through extensive cooperation with the international community, increased investments in education and R&D, the strong spirit of its people, and the outstanding leadership of the Korean government.
한국은 세계 10대 경제 대국이 되었으며, 전자, 반도체, 자동차, 조선, 원자력발전, 국방 등 분야에서 세계를 선도하고 있으며, 한국 문화와 상품은 케냐를 포함한 전세계에서 많은 관심과 인기를 얻고 있습니다. 한국은 국제사회의 책임 있는 구성원으로서 기후변화, 국제 분쟁, 공급망, 테러, 펜데믹 등 국제 이슈 해결 과정에 적극 참여하고 있습니다.
Korea has become one of the world's top 10 economies and is leading the world in electronics, semiconductors, automobiles, shipbuilding, nuclear power plant technology, and the defense industry. Korean culture and products are gaining much attention and popularity globally, including Kenya. As a responsible member of the international community, Korea is actively participating in international efforts in resolving global issues such as climate change, war and conflicts, supply chains, terrorism, and pandemics.
한국과 케냐 관계는 1964년 수교 이후 순조롭게 발전해 왔습니다. 특히, 2024년은 한국과 케냐가 수교 60주년을 기념하는 뜻깊은 해이었으며 윌리암 루토 케냐 대통령은 2024.6월 한-아프리카 정상회담 참가를 위하여 한국을 방문하였습니다.
Relations between Korea and Kenya have continued to strengthen since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1964.In particular, 2024 is a significant year as Korea and Kenya celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties, and H.E. Mr. William Samoei Ruto, President of Kenya visited Korea on the occasion of the Korea-Africa Summit, in June 2024.
2024.6월 한-아프리카 정상회담 개최 이후 한국과 아프리카 간 교류와 협력이 확대되고 있으며, 한국은 발전 잠재력이 큰 아프리카 각 국가와의 협력 확대를 적극 모색하고 있습니다.
Since the Korea-Africa Summit in June 2024, exchanges and cooperation between Korea and Africa have been expanding, and Korea is actively seeking to grow cooperation with African countries with great development potential.
또한, 최근 지정학적 환경 변화와 세계 정세의 불확실성이 높아지고 있는 시기에 국가 간 연대와 협력이 어느 때보다 중요하다고 생각됩니다.
Moreover, I believe that solidarity and cooperation among nations are more important than ever in this era of changing geopolitical landscape and growing global uncertainty,
1999년 국제코리아재단 설립 이후 아프리카에서 최초로 세계 코리아 포럼이 세계 저명한 인사들이 참석한 가운데 개최되는 것은 특별한 의미가 있다고 생각됩니다.
I believe that it is of special significance that the World Korea Forum is being held in Africa for the first time since the establishment of the International Korea Foundation in 1999, with the participation of distinguished representatives from around the world.
끝으로, 금번 세계 코리아 포럼이 한국과 아프리카 간 우의와 협력 증진은 물론 세계 평화와 번영에 기여할 수 있는 방안을 심도있게 논의하는 유익한 장이 되길 기원합니다. 감사합니다.
In conclusion, I wish that this World Korea Forum event will be a meaningful opportunity for in-depth discussions on ways to promote friendship and cooperation between Korea and Africa, as well as for contribution to world peace and prosperity. Thank you.
